Deborah Greenbaum


    Deborah is a current member of the Aerobics National Squad and trains at PLC in Sydney. 

Deborah, who also competes in Women's Artistic Gymnastics, is the reigning gold medalist from the Australian Aerobic Championships in the Senior International Individual Female category.

Deborah is also a seasoned campaigner on the International scene where she regularly represents Australia at the Suzuki World Cups in Japan and ANAC Internationals in the USA. In 2016, Deborah was also a member of the 2016 Aerobics World Championships team that competed in Korea where she came 30th overall in the Senior International Individual Female category - a fantastic achievement.

GENERAL INFORMATION

 
Currently Studying Bachelor of Pharmacy at The University of Sydney.   
Have any of your family members competed in elite sport? My father was selected to the Canadian Olympic Fencing Team but went to Law School instead.   
Best piece of advice received The sky is the limit; it's there for the taking. But you've got to go and get it.  
Superstitions or pre-competition rituals: On competition day I have to wear my lucking socks, eat half an apple before I warm up and not wear a scrunchie when I compete.   
How do you relax when you are not in the gym? Marathon Netflix sessions watching entire series in one day. Or try to keep on top of university work (not very relaxing though).   

TRAINING INFORMATION

 
Age began gymnastics and reason for starting: I started Artistic Gymnastics when I was 4. My older sisters were training and I wanted to do what they were doing and then discovered it was great fun. I started Aerobic Gymnastics when I was 13. I started High School at MLC and they had this really odd sport called Aerobics which I tried for one term and then never stopped.  
First Club: MLC School Sydney.  
First Coach: Nadine Robinson and Natasha Melacrinos.  
Current Coach: Gaia Brambilla and Lisa Milani.  
Favourite aspect of being a gymnast: Flying.  
Best apparatus: Aerobics floor.  
Favourite skill: Jumps.  
Most difficult skill to learn: The next new skills until it is mastered.  
Strength as a gymnast: Flexibility, strength and power.
