Gilbert took up Trampoline at the age of 10, and within five years had made not only the NSW state team, but also participated in the World Age Championships.
In 2009, he finished 2nd in the Double Mini Trampoline, as well as fifth in the Trampoline championships, and then made his way over to Russia, where he finished 39th in the World Age Championships.
2012 saw Gilbert register his best results in Trampoline competition, finishing third in the Trampoline, second in Double Mini Trampoline and 3rd in Synchronised Trampoline at the Indo Pacific Championships. In 2013, he made his inaugural World Championships appearance, finishing 26th in the Double Mini Trampoline.
In 2015, Gilbert recorded his best result in senior competition, when he helped NSW to gold in the team’s Double Mini Tramp competition. He also recorded a second place in the Synchronised Trampoline competition, paired with Aiden Thomas.
